- Asian Handicap
- A point spread used mainly in soccer that splits the handicap into two lines, reducing the chance of a tie.
- Bankroll Management
- The strategy of deciding how much money to wager and how to protect it.
- Bookmaker Margin
- The built-in profit margin for the sportsbook, expressed as a percentage of each bet.
- Cash Out
- The option to settle a bet early for a reduced payout before the event ends.
- Closing Line
- The final set of odds offered before a match starts.
- Edge
- An advantage a bettor has over the sportsbook in predicting an outcome.
- Free Bet
- A bet funded by the sportsbook that you can use without risking your own money.
- Futures
- A bet placed on an outcome that will be decided later, like which team wins the tournament.
- Handicapper
- A person who analyses games to predict outcomes and suggest bets.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing bets after a match has begun, with odds that update in real time.
- Juice (Vig)
- The commission that the sportsbook takes from a losing bet, built into the odds.
- Line Movement
- The change in odds or point spread over time as more bets are placed.
- Moneyline
- A bet that picks which team will win the match outright, without any point adjustment.
- Odds
- The number that indicates how much you can win relative to your stake.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals (or points) in a match will be higher or lower than a set line.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Point Spread
- The number of points added to the underdog’s final score to make betting even.
- Prop Bet
- A side bet on a specific event within a match, such as which player scores first.
- Public Money
- The amount of bets placed by casual bettors, often used to gauge sentiment.
- Risk-Free Bet
- A promotion that refunds your stake if the bet loses, usually as a free bet.
- Steam
- Rapid movement of betting line odds, usually caused by heavy betting action.
- Unit
- A standard measurement of the size of a bet, often equal to 1% of your total bankroll.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true probability suggests.
